Description
Product Overview
The iFJF EGR Exhaust Intake Block Off Plate Kit provides a complete solution for deleting the EGR system on Toyota 20R and 22R/22RE engines. CNC-machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum, these plates permanently seal both the intake manifold and exhaust manifold EGR ports. ⚠️ For off-road and competition use only.
Key Features
-
CNC Billet Aluminum — Precision-machined 6061-T6 plates with a true flat sealing surface. Won't warp under engine heat. Clear anodized finish resists corrosion.
-
Complete Dual-Plate Kit — Includes both intake manifold block-off plate and exhaust manifold block-off plate — seal both ends of the EGR circuit.
-
High-Temp Gaskets — Graphite composite gaskets rated for continuous 800°F exposure. No paper gaskets that burn through.
-
Eliminates Carbon Issues — The 22RE is notorious for EGR-related carbon buildup in the intake. Deleting it keeps your intake clean.
-
Grade 8 Hardware — Includes all necessary bolts and washers. No running to the hardware store mid-install.

Why Choose iFJF
Toyota 20R/22R/22RE engines are legendary for reliability — but their EGR systems are not. Carbon-clogged EGR passages cause rough idle, hesitation, and poor fuel economy. iFJF's billet aluminum block-off kit provides a permanent, leak-free solution that keeps your intake manifold clean. Designed by Toyota enthusiasts who understand these engines.
Installation Instructions
-
Locate EGR valve — Mounted on the rear of the intake manifold (firewall side). The valve has a vacuum line on top and bolts to the manifold.
-
Remove EGR valve and tube — Unbolt the valve from the intake. Trace the EGR tube to the exhaust manifold and remove it. You may need penetrating oil on the exhaust-side fittings.
-
Clean mounting surfaces — Scrape off old gasket material. Use brake cleaner for a spotless surface.
-
Install intake block-off plate — Place gasket then plate on intake manifold. Torque bolts evenly to 12-15 ft-lbs.
-
Install exhaust block-off plate — Remove EGR tube fitting from exhaust manifold. Install the plate with gasket. Use anti-seize on exhaust-side bolts.
-
Cap vacuum lines — Plug the vacuum port that originally fed the EGR valve to prevent a vacuum leak.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What engines does this EGR block off kit fit?
A: This kit fits the Toyota 20R (2.2L) and 22R/22RE (2.4L) engines found in 1975-1995 Toyota Pickup, 4Runner, and Celica models. Verify your EGR mounting pattern before ordering.
Q: Is this kit complete with gaskets?
A: Yes. The kit includes aluminum block-off plates for both the intake and exhaust side, plus high-temperature gaskets and mounting hardware. Everything needed for installation.
Q: Will removing EGR improve performance on my 22RE?
A: Removing the EGR system eliminates hot exhaust gas from entering the intake, which can improve idle quality, throttle response, and prevent carbon buildup in the intake manifold. For off-road use only.
Q: Does this fit the 22R carbureted and 22RE fuel-injected?
A: Yes. The EGR mounting pattern is the same for both the carbureted 22R and fuel-injected 22RE engines. This kit works with both.
Q: Will this cause a check engine light on my 22RE?
A: On pre-1988 vehicles (pre-OBD), no check engine light issues. On 1988-1995 22RE engines with OBD-I, the ECU may detect the missing EGR function. This kit is intended for off-road/competition use.
