EGR Valve Delete Kit with Intake Elbow for 6.4 Powerstroke Diesel Ford 2008-2010 — Off-Road

Description

Product Overview

The iFJF EGR Valve Delete Kit is a comprehensive solution for 2008-2010 Ford Super Duty trucks with the 6.4L Powerstroke diesel engine. This kit includes a CNC-machined billet aluminum intake elbow plus complete EGR cooler block-off plates — addressing the #1 reliability concern of the 6.4L platform. ⚠️ For off-road and competition use only. Tuning required.

Key Features

  • Complete Kit — Includes billet aluminum intake elbow, EGR cooler block-off plates (both banks), high-temperature gaskets, O-rings, and Grade 8 hardware. No piecing together parts from multiple vendors.
  • CNC Billet Intake Elbow — Replaces the restrictive, failure-prone factory EGR elbow. Smooth internal flow path improves airflow. Anodized finish for corrosion resistance.
  • Eliminates EGR Cooler Failure Risk — The 6.4L EGR coolers are known to crack internally, causing coolant loss and potential hydrolock. This kit removes that failure mode entirely.
  • Lower EGTs — Without hot exhaust gas being recirculated into the intake, exhaust gas temperatures drop 100-200°F — critical for towing reliability.
  • Improved Turbo Response — Cleaner, cooler intake air means denser charge and faster turbo spool. Noticeable improvement in throttle response.

Why Choose iFJF

The 6.4L Powerstroke can be a great engine — once the EGR system is addressed. iFJF's kit uses billet aluminum and stainless steel components that will outlast the truck. Unlike cheaper kits with thin stamped plates and paper gaskets, our MLS gaskets and precision-machined elbow ensure a leak-free installation.

Installation Instructions

  1. Disconnect batteries — Both batteries. Allow engine to cool completely.
  2. Remove intake piping — Air filter housing, intake tube, and charge air cooler pipes to access the EGR components.
  3. Remove factory EGR elbow — Unbolt from the intake manifold. This is the large cast aluminum piece on top of the engine.
  4. Remove EGR coolers — Both passenger-side and driver-side coolers must be removed. The passenger side is tight — removal of the inner fender liner helps access.
  5. Install block-off plates — Mount the stainless steel plates where the EGR coolers connected to the exhaust manifolds. Use MLS gaskets. Torque to factory spec.
  6. Install billet intake elbow — Position with new O-ring seal. Torque bolts evenly to 18 ft-lbs.
  7. Reinstall intake piping and tune — Reconnect all intake components. Flash ECU with EGR-disable tune before starting engine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What's included in this 6.4 Powerstroke EGR delete kit?
A: The kit includes a CNC-machined billet aluminum intake elbow (replaces the EGR-equipped factory elbow), block-off plates for both EGR coolers, all necessary gaskets, O-rings, and Grade 8 mounting hardware. Everything for a complete installation.

Q: Why delete the EGR on a 6.4 Powerstroke?
A: The 6.4L Powerstroke's EGR system is notorious for cooler failure, which can lead to coolant entering the cylinders (hydrolock). Deleting the EGR system eliminates this catastrophic failure risk and improves reliability. For off-road use only.

Q: Is tuning required after EGR delete?
A: Yes. The factory ECU will detect the missing EGR system and trigger a check engine light. You'll need an aftermarket tuner or custom tune to disable EGR-related DTCs and optimize performance.

Q: Is this a complete kit or do I need additional parts?
A: This is a complete EGR delete kit — intake elbow, cooler block-off plates, gaskets, and hardware. You may want to combine this with a DPF delete for maximum reliability gains (sold separately).

Q: How long does installation take?
A: Professional installation: 4-6 hours. Experienced DIY: 6-10 hours. The passenger-side EGR cooler is particularly tight on the 6.4L. Consider replacing the up-pipes while you have access.
