EGR Valve vs. EGR Cooler Delete — What's the Difference?
This kit deletes the EGR VALVE only — the electronic valve mounted on the intake manifold that controls exhaust gas flow into the intake. It does NOT delete the EGR cooler (the heat exchanger mounted near the exhaust manifold). Many 6.0L owners start with the EGR valve delete because:
- The EGR valve is the more common failure point (sticks, clogs, electrical failure)
- Installation is simpler and faster (top-of-engine access, no coolant drain)
- It eliminates the #1 cause of poor idle and throttle response issues
- If the EGR cooler is still intact, blocking exhaust flow at the valve prevents it from receiving hot exhaust gas

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this the same as a full EGR delete kit?
A: No. This kit deletes the EGR valve only. A full EGR delete kit also removes the EGR cooler with block-off plates. Many customers use this valve spool as a first step or combine it with an EGR cooler delete for complete removal.
Q: Will this stop the EGR cooler from leaking?
A: The valve spool blocks exhaust gas from entering the intake at the EGR valve port, but it does NOT remove the EGR cooler itself. If your EGR cooler is already leaking coolant, it may still allow coolant into the exhaust stream. For a leaking cooler, use a full EGR cooler delete kit.
Q: How difficult is the installation?
A: Moderate difficulty. The EGR valve is accessible from the top of the engine. Basic hand tools and 30-45 minutes are all that's needed for most installations. Some wiring harness connectors and vacuum lines must be disconnected.
Q: Do I need a tuner just for the EGR valve delete?
