Installation

Turn off LP gas at the tank and disconnect the water heater's 12V power (fuse or battery disconnect).
- Open the water heater exterior access door. Locate the thermal cutoff switches on the tank — they're small black or silver discs with two wires each.
- Label the wires before disconnecting (take a photo). Remove the old switches by unscrewing the mounting screws.
- Clean the mounting surface with a wire brush or sandpaper to ensure good thermal contact.
- Install the new switches. Tighten screws snugly — do not overtighten. Reconnect the wires to the matching positions.
