Why Alignment Matters
LS engines use a unique sealing system where the front and rear covers sit against the block AND the oil pan. The oil pan gasket bridges both covers — if either cover is off by even 0.010 inch, the gasket won't seal and you'll have an oil leak. The GM factory procedure requires pressing both covers flush to the block before torquing. These tools make that process repeatable and accurate.
