Q: Can I install this myself?A: Yes, with proper tools and mechanical experience. You'll need a floor jack with wood blocks, jack stands, impact wrench, socket set, and penetrating oil for rusted bolts. Plan 4-6 hours for installation. Professional installation is recommended if you're not experienced with suspension work. Q: Are these better than OEM rubber mounts?A: Yes. Our polyurethane bushings offer significant advantages: higher load capacity, resistance to oil/gas/road chemicals, less compression set (won't permanently deform), and longer service life. The trade-off is slightly firmer ride compared to OEM rubber. iFJF 4pc Front Control Arm Kit for 2010-2015 Mercedes GLK250 GLK350 X204 — Lower Arms

Product Overview This 4-piece front lower control arm kit provides a complete front suspension rebuild for your 2010-2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class (X204). Compatible with both the GLK250 BlueTEC diesel (2.1L) and GLK350 V6 (3.5L) in RWD and 4Matic configurations, this kit replaces all four lower control arms — forward left (MS101230), forward right (MS101231), and both rearward arms (MS101232) — eliminating clunking, vibration, and wandering caused by worn bushings and ball joints. Key Features Complete 4-Arm Kit — Includes both forward (MS101230/MS101231) and both rearward (MS101232) lower control arms — covers every lower control arm on the GLK front suspension. Dual Engine Compatibility — Works with both the GLK250 2.1L BlueTEC turbo diesel and GLK350 3.5L V6 gasoline engines, covering all 2010-2015 GLK models. RWD & 4Matic Compatible — Unlike many aftermarket kits, this set fits both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive (4Matic) GLK configurations without modification. Pre-Greased Integral Ball Joints — Each arm includes a factory-installed, pre-greased ball joint sealed with a durable rubber dust boot — no separate ball joint pressing required. OEM Geometry Match — Arms are forged and machined to exact Mercedes X204 suspension geometry, ensuring correct camber, caster, and toe after professional alignment. Bolt-On Installation — Direct replacement for factory arms with no modifications. All necessary mounting hardware included. This complete 4-piece set gives you all four arms for less than the price of two OEM arms. Whether your GLK has developed the characteristic front-end clunk over bumps, steering wander on the highway, or uneven front tire wear, replacing all four arms together is the most cost-effective repair. Pre-greased ball joints mean a cleaner install, and the forged steel construction matches factory durability. Backed by iFJF's warranty. Unlike many aftermarket Mercedes control arm kits, this set is compatible with both RWD and 4Matic (AWD) configurations of the GLK250 and GLK350 for all years 2010-2015. Q: Are the ball joints replaceable or integral?A: The ball joints are integral (built into the arm) and are not separately replaceable. When the ball joint shows wear, the entire control arm must be replaced as a unit. Q: How long does professional installation take?A: A professional shop typically completes this job in 2-3 hours. DIY mechanics should budget 3-5 hours, as the rearward arms require more clearance to access and torque properly. Q: Do I need a wheel alignment after installing?A: Absolutely. Any control arm replacement changes suspension geometry. A professional 4-wheel alignment is mandatory to prevent rapid, uneven tire wear and ensure proper handling. Q: What are the symptoms of worn GLK control arms?A: Common signs include: clunking or knocking from the front suspension over bumps, wandering or pulling on the highway, vibration through the steering wheel, and uneven or cupping tire wear patterns on the front tires. Q: Is this kit as good as genuine Mercedes parts?A: These arms are manufactured to IATF 16949 quality standards — the same certification required by Mercedes-Benz suppliers. They meet or exceed OEM specifications for fit, durability, and performance at a significantly lower price. Q: Does it include alignment/camber bolts?A: Standard mounting bolts are included. If your existing eccentric camber adjustment bolts are seized or corroded, you may need to source those separately. Check condition before starting the job. Designed for 2001-2009 RWD models with the 10mm sway bar link stud specification, this kit replaces all major wear components in a single job — saving you labor costs and ensuring balanced, predictable steering response. Whether your C230's front end is clunking over bumps or your CLK350 wanders on the highway, this all-in-one solution addresses every common wear point. Pre-Greased Sealed Ball Joints — All ball joints are factory pre-greased with high-temperature synthetic grease and sealed with durable rubber boots to keep contaminants out. 10mm Sway Bar Link Studs — Correct stud diameter for 2001-2009 RWD, non-Sport, non-4Matic Mercedes C-Class and CLK models. Measure before ordering — 12mm studs are NOT compatible. Complete Hardware Included — All mounting bolts, nuts, and washers required for installation are included. This kit delivers the same fit and durability at a fraction of the cost. All ball joints come pre-greased from the factory — no messy grease gun work required. Replacing all wear components at once ensures balanced handling and prevents the "domino effect" where a new part stresses old, worn components. Q: Will this fit a 4Matic (AWD) Mercedes?A: No. This kit is designed exclusively for RWD (rear-wheel drive), non-Sport suspension C-Class (W203) and CLK-Class (W209) models. 4Matic and Sport models use 12mm sway bar link studs. Q: Are the ball joints serviceable or sealed?A: The ball joints are sealed and pre-greased from the factory. They are not serviceable — when wear develops, replace the complete control arm. Q: Do I need a professional alignment after installation?A: Yes, a professional 4-wheel alignment is absolutely necessary after any suspension component replacement. Skipping alignment will cause rapid, uneven tire wear. Q: How long does installation take?A: A professional shop can complete this in 3-4 hours. DIY with basic mechanical skills and tools should budget 5-7 hours. A ball joint press and spring compressor may be needed. Q: Is this genuine Mercedes or aftermarket?A: High-quality aftermarket manufactured to meet or exceed OEM specifications. All components are IATF 16949 certified — the same quality standard required by major automakers. Q: What symptoms indicate I need this kit?A: Clunking or knocking over bumps, wandering steering on the highway, uneven tire wear, loose or vague steering feel, and visible cracking of rubber ball joint boots all signal worn control arms and tie rods. Q: Does this kit include the alignment bolts?A: Standard mounting bolts and nuts are included. If your vehicle has seized or rusted alignment/camber bolts, order those separately from your local dealer. Order with Confidence Fast shipping from our US warehouse. iFJF iFJF 1997-2003 BMW 525I 528I 530I 2 Front Lower Control Arms Bushings Ball Joints

Complete Front Lower Control Arm Kit for BMW E39 525i 528i 530i The iFJF CA-0048 is a complete 2-piece front lower control arm kit designed for 1997-2003 BMW 525i, 528i, and 530i (E39 chassis) equipped with 2.5L, 2.8L, and 3.0L M52/M54 inline-6 engines. Each arm comes with the critical bushing and ball joint pre-installed, providing a direct bolt-on replacement for worn original equipment. If your E39 has developed the dreaded steering wheel shimmy, front-end clunking, or vague steering response, these control arms are the definitive solution to restore the precise, confidence-inspiring handling that BMW engineers designed into the E39 platform. Understanding the BMW E39 Front Suspension The BMW E39 is widely regarded as one of the best-driving sports sedans ever built, and its sophisticated multi-link front suspension is a key reason why. Each front corner uses two control arms: the lower control arm (wishbone) and the upper control arm (thrust arm/tension strut). The lower control arm is responsible for lateral wheel location and camber control, while its large rubber bushing absorbs road impacts and isolates vibration. The ball joint at the outer end connects the control arm to the steering knuckle, handling both vertical suspension movement and steering input forces. After 60,000-80,000 miles, the rubber bushings degrade, crack, and separate from their housings, while the ball joints develop play. The result is degraded handling, vibration, and uneven tire wear - all of which the iFJF CA-0048 kit is engineered to correct. Vehicle Compatibility Make Model Chassis Years Engine BMW 525i E39 2001-2003 2.5L M54 I6 BMW 528i E39 1997-2000 2.8L M52 I6 BMW 530i E39 2001-2003 3.0L M54 I6 Technical Specifications Specification Detail Position Front Lower (Left & Right) Material Forged Steel with Corrosion-Resistant Coating Bushing Type Hydraulic Rubber (OEM-Spec Durometer) Ball Joint Type Sealed, Greased-for-Life Ball Joint Taper OEM BMW Specification Quantity 2 Pieces (Left + Right) Installation Bolt-On Replacement - Pre-Assembled SKU CA-0048 Common Signs of Worn E39 Control Arms Steering wheel shimmy (55-65 mph): The most classic E39 symptom - vibration felt through the steering wheel that peaks around 55-60 mph and may diminish at higher speeds Clunking over bumps: A metallic knock or clunk when driving over potholes, speed bumps, or uneven road surfaces Uneven tire wear: Inner or outer edge tire wear, often with a scalloped or feathered pattern Vague or wandering steering: The car doesn't track straight and requires constant small corrections Brake shudder: Vibration through the steering wheel during moderate to hard braking Frequently Asked Questions Q: What BMW models does this control arm kit fit?A: This 2-piece front lower control arm kit fits 1997-2003 BMW 525i, 528i, and 530i (E39 chassis) with 2.5L M54, 2.8L M52, and 3.0L M54 inline-6 engines. Please verify your vehicle's chassis code and production date before ordering. Q: What are the symptoms of worn control arms on a BMW E39?A: Common symptoms include steering wheel vibration at 50-65 mph (the infamous E39 shimmy), clunking noises over bumps, uneven or scalloped tire wear, wandering steering that requires constant correction, and reduced steering precision and feedback. Q: Does this kit include both left and right control arms?A: Yes, this is a complete 2-piece kit including both left and right front lower control arms. Each arm comes with the hydraulic bushing and ball joint pre-installed and ready for installation. Q: How difficult is the installation on an E39?A: Installation requires intermediate mechanical skills and typically takes 2-4 hours. You'll need a floor jack, jack stands, basic socket set (16mm, 18mm, 21mm), torque wrench, and optionally a ball joint separator tool. A professional wheel alignment is mandatory after installation. Q: Should I replace the thrust arms at the same time?A: The E39 uses two control arms per side. If your lower control arms are worn, the thrust arm (upper control arm) bushings are likely in similar condition. We recommend replacing both as a complete front-end suspension refresh for the best results and longest service life. Q: Do I need an alignment after installation?A: Yes, a professional 4-wheel alignment is absolutely required after control arm replacement. The lower control arm directly affects camber and caster angles. Operating the vehicle without a proper alignment will cause rapid and uneven tire wear. Ball joints come pre-assembled from the factory with grease, saving you significant labor time and the need for a shop press. Q: What tools do I need for installation?A: Socket set (10mm-24mm), torque wrench, ball joint separator tool, pry bar, jack, and jack stands. A impact wrench is helpful but not required. Most experienced DIYers can complete the job in 3-5 hours. Q: How do these compare to dealer OEM parts?A: Our control arms are manufactured to meet or exceed OEM specifications for material grade, bushing durometer, and dimensional tolerances — at 40-60% less than dealer pricing. Q: Is this sold as a pair (left + right)?A: Yes! This kit includes both driver and passenger side components (where applicable). Always replace control arms in pairs to ensure even suspension performance. Q: What warranty is included?A: All iFJF Direct suspension components include our satisfaction guarantee. If your vehicle falls outside these ranges, please contact us with your VIN for verification before ordering. Q: Do I need an alignment after installing control arms?A: Yes — absolutely. Replacing control arms changes suspension geometry and toe settings. A professional wheel alignment is required immediately after installation to prevent uneven tire wear and ensure proper handling. Budget approximately $80-120 for this service. Q: Can I install these myself or do I need a mechanic?A: Experienced DIYers with proper tools can install control arms in 2-4 hours per side. You'll need a floor jack, jack stands, torque wrench, ball joint separator, and basic hand tools. If you're not comfortable with suspension work, we recommend professional installation (typically 2-3 hours labor per side). Q: How do I know if my control arms need replacement?A: Common signs include: clunking noises over bumps, steering wheel vibration, uneven tire wear, wandering steering, and visible bushing cracks. If your vehicle has over 80,000 miles on original suspension components, preventive replacement is recommended. Q: Are ball joints pre-installed and greased?A: Yes. All control arms come with ball joints pre-installed and pre-greased from the factory. They are ready to bolt on and drive — no additional assembly required. Q: How long do aftermarket control arms typically last?A: With proper installation and alignment, expect 60,000-100,000+ miles of service life. Lifespan depends on driving conditions — rough roads, potholes, and off-road use accelerate wear. Regular inspection every 30,000 miles is recommended. • Front Lower Control Arms w/ Ball Joints for 2014-2 - Main Product Image

iFJF 2014-2017 Land Rover Range Rover Sport 2pc Front Lower Control Arm

Front Lower Control Arms with Ball Joints for 2014-2017 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Restore factory handling, steering precision, and ride quality on your 2014-2017 Range Rover Sport (L494) with this pair of premium front lower control arms. Each arm comes pre-assembled with a new ball joint for a complete, bolt-on replacement. Worn control arm bushings and ball joints cause imprecise steering, uneven tire wear, clunking noises over bumps, and degraded ride quality – all common issues on the L494 platform as mileage accumulates. Signs Your Range Rover Sport Needs New Control Arms Steering Wander / Vagueness: Worn bushings allow excessive control arm movement, causing the vehicle to wander or feel loose on the highway. Clunking Over Bumps: A loose ball joint or worn bushing produces a distinctive clunk or knock when driving over speed bumps or rough pavement. Uneven Tire Wear: Control arm bushing play alters alignment geometry, causing inner or outer edge tire wear. Steering Wheel Vibration: Worn components transmit road vibrations through the steering wheel, especially at highway speeds. Pulling to One Side: Damaged control arms can cause the vehicle to pull during braking or acceleration. What's Included Component Quantity Construction Front Lower Control Arm (Left) 1 Forged Steel with Pre-Installed Ball Joint Front Lower Control Arm (Right) 1 Forged Steel with Pre-Installed Ball Joint Mounting Hardware Complete Kit Grade 10.9 Bolts, Nuts & Washers Vehicle Compatibility Year Make Model Position 2014-2017 Land Rover Range Rover Sport (L494) Front Lower (Driver & Passenger) Note: This kit fits all L494 Range Rover Sport variants including SE, HSE, Supercharged, Autobiography, and SVR trim levels. Premium Build Quality Forged Steel Construction: Manufactured to OEM specifications for strength, durability, and perfect geometry. Forged steel arms resist flex and fatigue better than stamped steel alternatives. Pre-Installed Ball Joints: Each arm arrives with a factory-installed ball joint featuring a greased, sealed boot for maintenance-free operation and long service life. OEM-Spec Bushings: High-durometer rubber bushings match factory ride characteristics while providing improved durability compared to original equipment. Corrosion-Resistant Coating: Black e-coat finish protects against road salt, moisture, and environmental corrosion – critical for vehicles driven in winter conditions. 100% Dimensionally Verified: Every arm is QC-checked against OEM CAD data to ensure exact fitment and proper suspension geometry. Performance Benefits Restored Steering Precision: Eliminates the vague, wandering steering feel caused by worn bushings and ball joints. Improved Ride Quality: New bushings properly isolate road noise and vibration for a smoother, quieter ride. Correct Suspension Geometry: Maintains proper camber, caster, and toe settings for even tire wear and predictable handling. Eliminated Clunks & Noises: No more unsettling suspension noise over bumps and during low-speed maneuvers. Direct Bolt-On Replacement: Designed to replace the factory arms without modification – no fabrication, no special tools required. Installation Overview This is a direct bolt-on replacement for the factory control arms. Professional installation and a subsequent wheel alignment are strongly recommended, as control arm replacement directly affects suspension geometry. Estimated installation time: 2-3 hours per side by a professional shop. Basic hand tools and a ball joint separator tool are required. A four-wheel alignment must be performed after installation. Frequently Asked Questions Q: Will these fit my 2016 Range Rover Sport Supercharged?A: Yes. These control arms fit all 2014-2017 L494 Range Rover Sport models regardless of engine or trim level, including 3.0L SCV6, 5.0L SCV8 Supercharged, Autobiography, and SVR variants. Q: Do these come as a pair (left and right)?A: Yes. This listing includes both the driver side (left) and passenger side (right) front lower control arms, each with a pre-installed ball joint. Q: Is an alignment required after installation?A: Yes, a professional four-wheel alignment is absolutely required after control arm replacement. Control arms directly affect camber, caster, and toe settings. Driving without alignment will cause rapid and uneven tire wear. Q: How long do Range Rover Sport control arms typically last?A: On the L494 platform, control arm bushings typically begin showing wear between 60,000-90,000 miles. Vehicles driven in areas with rough roads, potholes, or heavy winter salt exposure may need replacement earlier. Ball joint life is typically 80,000-120,000 miles. Q: How do these compare to genuine Land Rover parts?A: These arms are manufactured to match OEM specifications in geometry, materials, and bushing durometer. They provide identical fit and function at a fraction of the dealer price. Genuine Land Rover control arms typically cost 2-3x more per side. Q: Can I install these myself?A: DIY installation is possible for experienced mechanics with the proper tools, including a ball joint separator, torque wrench, and floor jack/jack stands. A professional alignment is still required afterwards. For most owners, professional installation is recommended given the safety-critical nature of suspension components. Q: What torque specifications should I use?A: All fasteners must be torqued to Land Rover L494 specifications. Key values: control arm-to-subframe bolts 122 ft-lbs + 90°, ball joint-to-knuckle nut 66 ft-lbs. Always reference the factory service manual for your specific model year. Q: What's the difference between this kit and individual OEM parts?A: Our complete kit includes all the components you'd typically buy separately at the dealership — control arms, ball joints, and bushings — in one package at a significantly lower total cost. Individual OEM parts can easily exceed $500+ per side; our kit provides comparable quality for 40-60% less. Q: Do you offer warranty on control arm kits?A: Yes — all iFJF control arm kits include a 1-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. Suspension & Steering Components for Heavy-Duty Diesel Trucks

Your diesel truck's engine may weigh over 1,100 pounds — more than some compact cars. Add a plow, fifth-wheel hitch, or loaded bed, and your suspension components work under conditions most vehicles will never experience. Worn ball joints, track bars, and steering linkages don't just compromise ride quality — they create dangerous handling conditions like death wobble, wandering steering, and unpredictable braking behavior.

Suspension & Steering by Platform

Ford Super Duty (F-250/F-350, 1999+)

Ford's solid front axle (Dana 50/60) is robust but demands regular maintenance. Key wear items include:

Track Bar Bushings: The #1 cause of wandering steering and steering wheel shimmy. Polyurethane upgrades provide tighter steering response compared to OEM rubber.

Ball Joints: Upper and lower ball joints on the Dana 60 can wear as early as 60,000 miles on trucks with plow duty or oversized tires. Replacements with greaseable zerks significantly extend service life.

Steering Stabilizers: The factory stabilizer is often the first to fail. A dual stabilizer setup provides superior damping for trucks running 35-inch and larger tires.

Radius Arms: Ford's radius arm design on 2005+ trucks can develop bushing wear, causing caster changes under braking.

Ram 2500/3500 (2003+)

Ram's five-link coil (2014+) and four-link (2003-2013) front suspensions present unique wear patterns:

Adjustable Track Bar: Corrects axle shift and centering after lift kits. The OEM track bar is not adjustable — once bushings wear, axle centering is lost. An adjustable bar with polyurethane bushings is the permanent fix.

Control Arms: 2014+ coil-spring models use upper and lower control arms with ball joints that can't be serviced separately — the entire arm must be replaced. We stock OEM-spec replacements.

Death Wobble Fix Kit: Ram 2500/3500 trucks are susceptible to death wobble due to the combination of worn track bar bushings, loose tie rod ends, and an underdamped steering stabilizer. Our fix kit addresses all three simultaneously.

GM 2500HD/3500HD (2001+)

GM's independent front suspension (IFS) uses a torsion bar system that creates unique maintenance considerations:

Upper Control Arms: The upper ball joint is the primary wear point. When it fails, the truck's alignment changes dynamically under load.

Pitman & Idler Arms: The center link design on GM IFS puts significant leverage on these components. When they develop play, steering becomes loose and unresponsive.

Torsion Bar Keys: For trucks leveled with aftermarket torsion keys, upgraded shocks and control arm bushings are essential to maintain alignment geometry.

FAQ: Diesel Truck Suspension

Q: What causes death wobble on a Ram 2500?
A: The most common cause is a worn track bar bushing or loose track bar mounting bolts. Once the track bar develops play, the solid axle can oscillate laterally, exciting the entire steering system. The fix order is: (1) track bar — check and tighten or replace, (2) tie rod ends — replace if any play, (3) steering stabilizer — replace after fixing root cause.

Q: How often should I replace ball joints on my Super Duty?
A: Expect 80,000-120,000 miles on a stock truck with highway use. Plow trucks, trucks with oversized tires, or frequent off-road use may need replacements at 50,000-70,000 miles. Use greaseable ball joints and grease them at every oil change.

Q: Can I replace just one ball joint?
A: Not recommended. If one ball joint has failed, the others on the same axle are not far behind. Always replace upper and lower pairs together, and plan to do both sides for a complete front-end refresh.

Buying Guide: How to Choose the Right Suspension Upgrades

Diagnose Before You Upgrade: The most expensive mistake diesel truck owners make is throwing parts at symptoms without diagnosing the root cause. Before ordering ball joints, track bars, or steering stabilizers, perform a dry-park steering test: with the truck on the ground (not on jack stands — the suspension must be loaded), have a helper turn the steering wheel back and forth while you inspect every joint from the pitman arm to the tie rod ends. Use a pry bar to check for vertical play in ball joints (any movement visible to the naked eye means replacement is due). Watch the track bar mounting bolts — if the bar shifts before the axle moves, the track bar bushing is shot.

Polyurethane vs. OEM Rubber Bushings: Polyurethane provides tighter steering response and lasts longer than rubber, but it transmits more road vibration. For a daily-driver truck that tows on weekends, polyurethane track bar and sway bar bushings are an excellent upgrade — the firm steering feel is worth the slight NVH increase. For trucks that see primarily highway miles empty, OEM rubber bushings provide a more comfortable ride. Never mix polyurethane and rubber bushings on the same suspension link — the differing deflection rates cause binding.

Steering Stabilizers: Single vs. Dual: A single steering stabilizer is adequate for stock tires up to 33 inches. For 35-inch tires and larger, a dual stabilizer setup dramatically reduces steering wheel kickback on rough roads and provides redundancy — if one stabilizer fails, you still have steering damping. If you're experiencing death wobble, a new stabilizer alone will not fix it — it will only mask the underlying problem (worn track bar bushing, loose tie rod ends, or worn ball joints). Fix the root cause first, then upgrade the stabilizer.

Leveling Kits and Geometry Correction: A 2-inch leveling kit changes caster angle by approximately 1.5 degrees negative — this is why leveled trucks often have wandering, darty steering. Caster correction shims (for leaf-spring trucks) or adjustable control arms (for coil-spring trucks) restore proper caster and eliminate the constant steering corrections that make leveled trucks exhausting to drive on the highway. For any lift over 2.5 inches, a drop pitman arm or track bar relocation bracket is required to prevent bump steer.

Common Suspension Problems & Diagnosis — Death Wobble, Wandering, and Clunks

Death Wobble (Ram 2500/3500 & Ford Super Duty): True death wobble is a violent, uncontrollable front-end oscillation triggered by hitting a bump at 45-65 MPH. It feels like the front axle is trying to tear itself out from under the truck — and it only stops when you slow below 30 MPH. The diagnostic order is non-negotiable: (1) Track bar — the #1 cause on solid-axle trucks. Check the bushing at the frame mount and the bolt at the axle mount. If you can move the bar by hand, it's worn. (2) Tie rod ends — check for radial and axial play at every joint. (3) Ball joints — jack up the front axle by the axle tube (not the frame) and use a pry bar under the tire to check vertical movement. (4) Steering stabilizer — replace only after fixing 1-3. (5) Tire balance — out-of-balance oversized tires can trigger an oscillation that a worn suspension cannot damp.

Wandering Steering at Highway Speeds: If you're constantly correcting the steering wheel to keep the truck in its lane, check in this order: (1) Tire pressure — uneven pressure creates a pull that mimics alignment issues. Diesel truck tires should be within 2 PSI of each other side-to-side. (2) Track bar bushings — even slight wear causes the axle to shift under load, requiring constant steering correction. (3) Caster angle — insufficient positive caster (below 3.5 degrees) causes wandering. Leveled trucks are especially prone to this. (4) Steering gearbox — high-mileage trucks may develop play in the sector shaft, requiring gearbox adjustment or replacement.

Front-End Clunk Over Bumps: A distinct clunk when hitting bumps at low speed has a short list of culprits: (1) Sway bar end links — the most common and cheapest fix. Disconnect one end link and repeat the test — if the noise is gone, replace both end links. (2) Track bar mounting bolts — the frame-side bolt can oval the mounting hole on high-mileage trucks. A 9/16" to 5/8" bolt upgrade and weld-in washer repair sleeve permanently fixes this. (3) Control arm bushings — coil-spring Ram trucks develop bushing wear that produces a dull thud, not a sharp clunk. (4) Shock absorbers — loose mounting bolts or worn bushings allow the shock body to shift.

Maintenance Schedule: Suspension & Steering Service Intervals

Component Inspection Interval Service Life (Typical) Action
Ball Joints (greaseable) Every oil change 80,000-120,000 mi Grease with moly-fortified chassis grease
Ball Joints (sealed) Every 15,000 mi 60,000-100,000 mi Replace when any vertical play is detected
Track Bar Bushings Every 10,000 mi 50,000-80,000 mi Replace when steering wander develops
Tie Rod Ends Every 15,000 mi 70,000-100,000 mi Replace in pairs if any joint shows play
Steering Stabilizer Every 10,000 mi 40,000-60,000 mi Replace when steering wheel kickback increases
Shock Absorbers Every 15,000 mi 50,000-70,000 mi Replace all four corners as a set
Sway Bar End Links Every 15,000 mi 60,000-90,000 mi Replace in pairs; check for bushing degradation

Severe-Duty Adjustment: For trucks used in plowing, off-road, construction, or frequent heavy towing, halve all inspection intervals. The combination of high static loads (plow weight, pin weight) and impact loads (potholes, curbs, jobsite terrain) accelerates suspension wear by 2-3x compared to highway-only use. Grease every oil change is mandatory for plow trucks — no exceptions.
