Description
iFJF TP1015 Fuel Filter — 5-Micron Absolute Protection for Your Duramax L5P
Already running an upgraded billet aluminum housing cap? Excellent choice. Now keep it fed with the iFJF TP1015 replacement fuel filter element — the same 5-micron absolute-rated filter that ships in our combo kits, sold standalone for customers who already made the cap upgrade. Same filtration. Same Viton O-rings. Same CP4.2 pump protection. Just the filter, no cap included.
Engineered for 2017–2020 Chevy Silverado & GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD with the 6.6L L5P Duramax diesel engine, the TP1015 delivers filtration performance that leaves the OEM ACDelco paper element in the dust — literally. If your current filter has 15,000+ miles on it, you're overdue.

⚙️ Technical Specifications
-
Filter Media: Multi-layer synthetic blend with hydrophobic barrier layer — traps particles down to 5μm while repelling water droplets from the fuel stream
-
Filtration Rating: 5 micron absolute (β≥1000) — captures 99.9% of particles ≥5μm. OEM paper filters are rated nominally at 7–10μm, meaning they let significantly more particulate through to your CP4.2 high-pressure pump
-
Water Separation: 98% removal efficiency — the hydrophobic layer strips emulsified water from diesel fuel, critical for protecting the CP4.2 injection pump from cavitation erosion and catastrophic failure
-
O-Rings: 2 premium Viton® fluoroelastomer O-rings (1 × large cap seal, 1 × small filter seal) — rated to 400°F continuous, compatible with ULSD, B20 biodiesel, and common diesel fuel additives
-
Service Interval: Replace every 15,000–22,500 miles (24,000–36,000 km). Reduce to 15,000 miles if towing heavy, extended idling, or running biodiesel blends
-
Filter Construction: Spiral-wound pleated media with epoxy-sealed end caps — no bypass valve failures, consistent flow under high fuel demand
📦 What's in the Box
- 1 × TP1015 Fuel Filter Element (multi-layer synthetic blend media, 5μm absolute)
- 2 × Viton® O-rings (large cap seal + small filter seal)
- 1 × Installation instruction card
⚠️ Housing cap NOT included — this is the filter element only. If you need a cap upgrade, see our Silver Cap Kit or Black Cap Kit.
🛠️ Installation Tips
-
PRIME THE FILTER: Fill the new filter with clean diesel before installing. A dry filter means a dry CP4.2 on first start — and that can lead to a $4,000+ pump replacement.
-
LUBE THE O-RINGS: Apply a thin film of clean diesel or silicone grease to both O-rings. Dry O-rings can pinch, tear, or roll during installation — all of which cause air leaks and hard-start conditions.
-
TORQUE TO SPEC: If you're using the OEM plastic cap, torque to 18 ft-lbs (25 N·m) — no more. If you're using an iFJF billet aluminum cap, the same torque spec applies, but the aluminum cap won't crack if you go slightly over.
-
BLEED THE SYSTEM: After installation, cycle the key to "ON" (without cranking) 3–5 times. You'll hear the in-tank lift pump cycle. The L5P fuel system is self-priming — no manual bleeding required.
-
LEAK CHECK: Start the engine and inspect the filter housing area. Any dampness around the cap seal means the O-ring isn't seated. Shut down, reseat, and retorque.
❓ FAQ
Q: Will this fit my 2017–2020 Duramax L5P?
A: Yes — as long as your truck uses the cartridge-style fuel filter housing (GM part #134001 housing). This filter fits all 2017–2020 Silverado/Sierra 2500HD/3500HD with the 6.6L L5P engine. Also fits Chevy Cruze 1.6L/2.0L diesel models.
Q: How often should I replace the fuel filter?
A: GM recommends every 22,500 miles. We recommend every 15,000 miles if you tow heavy, idle frequently, or run any biodiesel blends. The TP1015 has 2× the dirt-holding capacity of the OEM filter, but diesel fuel quality varies — err on the side of more frequent changes.
Q: Can I use this TP1015 filter with the OEM plastic cap?
A: Yes, the TP1015 filter element is a direct dimensional match for the OEM housing. However, the factory plastic cap is a known failure point (GM TSB #18-NA-103). We strongly recommend upgrading to our 6061-T6 billet aluminum cap for permanent peace of mind.
Q: Will using this aftermarket filter void my factory warranty?
A: No. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. § 2302), a manufacturer cannot void your warranty for using aftermarket parts unless they prove the aftermarket part directly caused the failure. The iFJF TP1015 meets or exceeds all OEM filtration specifications — GM would have a very hard time making that case.
🛒 Complete Your Fuel System Upgrade
This filter is just one piece of the L5P fuel system puzzle:
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Always prime the fuel filter with clean diesel before installation. A dry-start on the CP4.2 high-pressure fuel pump can cause catastrophic failure — a $4,000+ repair you don't want.
