🛠️ Installation Tips
PRIME THE FILTER: Fill the new filter with clean diesel before installing — this prevents the CP4.2 pump from running dry on first start.
LUBE THE O-RINGS: Apply a thin film of clean diesel or silicone grease to both O-rings before installation.
TORQUE TO SPEC: Hand-tighten, then torque to 18 ft-lbs (25 N·m). Threads engage smoothly — if you feel resistance, back off and realign.
BLEED THE SYSTEM: After installation, cycle the key to "ON" (without starting) 3–5 times to prime the fuel system. The CP4.2 is self-priming — you'll hear the in-tank pump cycle.

Q: Will this fit my 2021+ L5P Duramax?
A: No. GM changed the fuel filter housing design for 2021+ model years. This kit is specifically for 2017–2020 L5P trucks. For 2021+, use our updated L5P 2021+ filter kit.
Q: How often should I replace the fuel filter?
A: GM recommends every 22,500 miles under normal conditions. If you tow heavy, idle frequently, or run biodiesel blends, replace every 15,000 miles.
Q: Can I reuse the aluminum cap with future filter changes?
