Description

Product Overview

Fix your Yamaha Banshee's notorious TORS (Throttle Override System) issues once and for all with this complete TORS Removal Kit. If your Banshee is stalling, idling erratically, or bogging at part-throttle, the TORS parking brake limiter is the most likely culprit. This kit eliminates the problematic TORS system and gives you direct carburetor control.

Compatible with 1987-2006 Yamaha Banshee 350 (all years). This is the #1 recommended modification for any Banshee — even stock machines benefit from TORS removal.

Key Features

  • Complete Kit — Includes idle screws, carb caps, and throttle cable caps
  • Eliminates Stalling & Erratic Idle — No more TORS-related electrical gremlins
  • Adjustable Idle — Manual idle adjustment screws give you full control
  • Quick Install — 30-minute bolt-on modification, no fabrication required
  • OEM-Quality Materials — Billet aluminum caps with proper O-ring seals

What Is TORS & Why Remove It?

TORS (Throttle Override System) is an early electronic safety system that monitors throttle position vs. carburetor slide position. When the parking brake microswitch gets dirty, the TORS brain box cuts ignition — causing stalling, bogging, and refusal to rev. On 30+ year-old machines, the wiring, brain box, and parking brake switch are almost certainly malfunctioning.

This kit replaces the electronic TORS caps with manual idle screws, giving you direct, mechanical control over idle speed and eliminating all TORS-related electrical failures. Note: This kit is intended for off-road/competition use only. Not for street-legal vehicles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will this completely eliminate my stalling issue?
A: If your stalling is TORS-related (the most common cause on Banshees), yes. The TORS brain box and parking brake switch are the #1 cause of intermittent stalling on Banshees. If stalling persists after TORS removal, check your reeds, coil, stator, and carb jetting.

Q: Is this difficult to install?
A: No — this is a straightforward 30-minute bolt-on install. Remove the stock TORS carb caps, install the new caps + idle screws, replace the throttle cable caps, adjust idle, and you're done. Basic hand tools only.

Q: Do I need to re-jet after TORS removal?
A: Not necessarily. TORS removal doesn't change airflow or fuel delivery — it just replaces the electronic caps with manual ones. However, if your Banshee has other mods (pipes, air filter, etc.), you should already be jetted accordingly.

Q: Can I leave the TORS brain box connected after installing this?
A: You can physically leave it in place, but it will no longer have any function. Some riders remove it entirely to clean up the wiring. Unplug the parking brake switch connector as well.

Q: Is this legal for street use?
A: No. TORS is a safety system, and removing it makes the vehicle for off-road/competition use only. Not street legal in any jurisdiction.
